Cristina Llerena is a Boston based social documentary photographer born in Mexico. Her work is centered in themes of community and family. She is currently focused on a long-term project exploring the struggles of transnational families in the Boston area. Cristina’s photographs have been exhibited at Centro Cultural“El Nigromante” in San Miguel, Mexico, at the Burchfield Penney Art Center in Buffalo, New York, and in the Massachusetts Statehouse in Boston. Since 2007, she has produced and coordinated photographic workshops in Mexico and other countries, most recently for photographer Mary Ellen Mark.
